FFA Alumni Attend SRM in Reno, Nevada
The Eagle Pass FFA is super proud to announce that three of our former students have been invited to compete on the Texas A&M Range Plant Identification team. These members are Jessica Sebastian, Charles Garrett Purcell, and Hanna Hardt. They first competed for Texas A&M in the fall at the Texas Range Plant Identification competition. They were then invited to compete for Texas A&M at the International Range Plant Identification contest held at the 77th Society for Range Management Annual Meeting held January 29-February 1, 2024 in Reno, Nevada. This competition has been years in the making for these three students; Eagle Pass FFA has been building a legacy over the last 10 years, working hard at learning how to identify Texas range plants through lots of studying and practice, attending invitational competitions, and even attending summer workshops. Jessica, Garrett, and Hanna have taken advantage of these opportunities and have now taken this knowledge and knocked it out of the park. They were all a part of the State Winning Eagle Pass FFA Plant ID team when they were in high school, and now they are taking those skills and developing more. To compete with Texas A&M at these college-level competitions, they are now learning over 250 plants from all over the North American continent. We are so proud that their hard work and dedication has paid off.
